Reality Shows
Enough already! The only thing real about these shows are that they are not real. How can it possibly be reality when there is editing? Some are even have story lines given to the "contestants". Oh sure, the contestant may use his or her own words, but those same words may be manipulated in such a way as to mean any way the editor likes. For example, Ann asks Sue about her last boyfriend. Sue replies that he was a real jerk. A few chop chops here, a few clip clips there and viola! Sue says that he was a real jerk while talking to Mary about her date last night with Mary's brother. Instant drama!
Most of these shows are nothing more than montages of boring people made mildly interesting by all the editing. Even then, interesting might not be the correct word, laughable might be more appropriate.
Professional? Wrestling
Start talking about wrestling with a fan and you may end up in a wrestling match! Unlike the so-called professional wrestling matches, at least it wouldn't be choreographed. Once in a while, I enjoy watching wrestling on TV. It's somewhat entertaining. Just like any other show, some of the wrestlers/actors are better than others.
The good guy vs bad guy reminds me of the old westerns I watched as a kid. I do get confused at times. Every once in a while, a bad guy becomes the good guy and vice versa. That can cause someone who hasn't watched for a time to root for the wrong wrestler! At least with the old westerns, the bad guys were always bad!
Maybe I should have compared wrestling with soap operas. The villain or villainess sometimes become the benevolent ones. I remember my uncle who loved wrestling calling it "a soap opera for men" after the matches became scripted in the 1970s. Shortly after that, he lost interest in them.
Now I'm not knocking you if you like wrestling matches. I'm only saying don't argue that the matches are real and not scripted. Life is confusing enough at times without having people not being able to tell choreography and scripting from reality.
