It seems strange that we keep voting in the same politicians again and again. Especially in the House and Senate. All the campaign promises they give us...and then never deliver until the last year of their term. That's the year that they chose one thing that they promised and make it appear that they are really trying to do it. Of course, most of the time it's all for show and never gets done. So why do we continually vote them back in office?
Maybe we should give the new man a try. What would it hurt? All he could do is the same thing at a lower price. Besides, we'd have another chance at the next election if he didn't keep his campaign promises!
The politicians know that the longer they are in office, the more they make now and when they retire or are voted out. Wouldn't it be nice if our jobs did the same? How many companies still have retirement funds? I really can't think of any, can you? We have to rely on 401k or some other form of saving our own money. Why shouldn't politicians have to do the same?
Come to think of it, why do we need the Senate and House? Why can't we represent ourselves? With today's world having almost instant communication, we could vote on the issues and really be represented. All it would really take is a computer, a pin number, and a social security number. Wham, bam....vote's in! Think of all the money that would be saved! No salaries for Representatives or Senators. The Federal Deficient would be lowered. But......
Americans are not well informed, especially not to be able to make wise decisions. Or so I've been told by a political insider. I don't know about you but I resent being thought of as ignorant even if it is in a polite fashion.
What worked 200 years ago was great then. The people were represented by neighbors, friends, and relatives who were voted into office. You know, regular people who knew what the problems were and really did try to do something about them.
Now, it's the rich and powerful who get into office and forget about the regular people. They don't even know what it is like to live from paycheck to paycheck. How it is to have to decide which essential you'll have to give up to get another. What it means to worry about whether you'll have a job, a home, enough food, or medicine. They are so out of touch with the rest of us, how can they possibly represent us?
